Russian model who recorded IndiGo pilot assault video reveals details of chaotic incident
IndiGo pilot assault video: On Sunday, a passenger on an IndiGo flight violently attacked the pilot of the plane as he was announcing delays.
On Monday, a guy who was aboard an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Goa, where a passenger had attacked the captain following an hours-long delay, gave a first-hand description of what happened.
Sanal Vij stated he “doesn’t support violence” on his X account, but IndiGo took advantage of him and “hid all their mismanagement and mistakes instead of what the passenger did”.
According to him, there were “multiple delays” on flight 6E2175, which was supposed to take off at 7:40 AM, but instead it took off at 5:35 PM.
I feel obligated to offer my first-hand description of the occurrence as a fellow passenger. It’s important to make clear that I oppose violence before I continue. I want to talk about what I went through and clarify what happened,” he stated.

After a five-hour delay because of inclement weather, boarding began at 12:20 PM with about 186 passengers, including small children, old people, and newborns. The airplane doors did not close until 2:50 PM, even though the boarding process was completed by approximately 12:40 PM. Ground crew blamed this delay on air traffic control (ATC) not clearing the flight due to congestion, according to Mr. Vij.
According to him, the pilot said around 1:30 PM that the airplane would take off soon and they were awaiting a crew member. According to Mr. Vij, it became clear that the crew and ground workers had given “misinformation”.
He claimed that the flight crew was “observed being unprofessional” by holding protracted chats with the ground crew. According to Mr. Vij, senior passengers made “multiple requests” for water, but they were “ignored” since they were “busy in their conversations”.
“The plane doors closed at approximately 2:40 PM when the delayed crew member arrived. But for a while, the aircraft did not retreat, which prompted questions from passengers and a verbal fight with crew members “said the man.
“Around 3:20 PM, the assistant captain came out to address the passengers on the delay when the assault occurred: Violence is unacceptable, but what about Indigo’s mismanagement, unprofessionalism, and 185 passengers stranded without food for hours?,” Mr. Vij stated, mentioning that they received the dinner after 4:00 PM.
“The event calls into question how IndiGo handled the situation. He said, “Don’t authorities need to look into this unprofessional behavior and make sure that this kind of mismanagement doesn’t happen again?
Sahil Kataria, the man who was detained last night for striking the IndiGo flight captain, was freed on bond shortly after his detention.
The 28-year-old was captured on camera charging at Anup Kumar, the flight’s co-captain, and striking him on the Sunday journey from Delhi to Goa.
He can be heard yelling at the pilot, “Chalana hai chala, nahi chalana mat chala, khol gate (fly if you want to, otherwise open the door),” just before he is pulled by another passenger and taken away.
The official statement from IndiGo
IndiGo said in an official statement that the passenger had been deemed “unruly” and that the airline was thinking about adding him to the no-fly list.
The independent internal committee will review the incident and decide whether to take necessary measures, including adding the passenger to the “no-fly list” following regulatory requirements. Our top priority is the safety and security of our crew and passengers, and we have a zero-tolerance policy for any inappropriate activity of this nature,” stated IndiGo.
