PM Modi will Inaugurate Tiruchirappalli Airport Terminal & Launches Development Projects in South India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate the new terminal building at Tiruchirappalli International Airport on Tuesday while he is in Tamil Nadu. From Tiruchirappalli, Prime Minister Modi will commence his tour to South India. The nation will be inaugurated, and dedicated, and the Prime Minister will lay the cornerstone for several development projects in Tamil Nadu valued at over ₹19,850 crore.

On January 2 and 3, PM Modi will spend two days travelling to Kerala, Lakshadweep, and Tamil Nadu.

“Over the next two days, I will be attending various programmes in Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep and Kerala. The programmes will begin from Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, where I will address the Convocation Ceremony of the Bharathidasan University. The new terminal building of the airport will also be inaugurated. At the same time, other development works will also be launched. These works will benefit several people,” PM Modi posted on X.

The PMO statement states that the development of the Tiruchirappalli International Airport’s new terminal building came at a cost of more than 1,100 crore.

Tiruchirappalli’s vibrant culture influenced the airport’s design. It would feature various subject artworks and art forms, such as Kolam paintings and the colors of Srirangam Temple.

Over 44 lakh passengers, a year and roughly 3,500 passengers during peak hours can be served by Trichy airport.

There are 60 check-in counters, 5 baggage carousels, 60 arrival immigration counters, and 44 departure emigration counters in the new Trichy airport terminal building.

Tiruchirappalli International Airport is the second-biggest airport in Tamil Nadu in terms of international passenger flow, after Chennai.

Additionally, he will dedicate the Low-Temperature Thermal Desalination (LTTD) plant in Kadmat to the country, which can produce 1.5 lakh gallons of pure drinking water per day. In addition, PM Modi will dedicate the first-ever battery-backed solar power facility in Lakshadweep, a solar power plant in Kavaratti.
