On Saturday December 23 Bangladesh bowled out New Zealand for just 98 runs in ODI
On Saturday, December 23, Bangladesh made history by winning their first-ever ODI match in New Zealand. Bangladesh bowled out New Zealand for just 98 runs during a dead rubber match in Napier, the hosts’ lowest-ever ODI score against the Bangladeshi team. Bangladesh, on the other hand, wasted no time in reaching the objective in 15.1 overs with 9 wickets remaining.
But with a 0-2 disadvantage heading into the last ODI, Bangladesh was unable to secure the series with this alone. On a cloudy day with much of swing and seam available to them, Bangladeshi pacers were the dominant force. From the beginning of the innings, Tanzim Shakib and Shoriful Islam worried the batters with superb lengths. Within the opening twenty overs of the match, skipper Tom Latham was bowled through the gate, Henry Nicholls got the top edge to mid-wicket, and Rachin Ravindra edged one back to the keeper.
Bangladesh dominated the innings because New Zealand was unable to bounce back from their and could not form any partnerships. Tanzim, Soumya Sarkar, and Shoriful each claimed three wickets, while Mustafizr Rahman claimed just one. After winning player of the match, Shakib expressed how much he loved bowling at Napier.
” Really happy. The way I got started was excellent. I had a great time bowling there. The sphere was nibbling and swaying. It benefited the group and established the group’s culture. I attempted to retain my line and length while bowling wicket-to-wicket. I was really aided by the wicket. was excellent for bowlers who use pace. At the post-match press conference, Shakib stated, “I had to keep it tight, and that’s what I did today.”
Latham, the captain of New Zealand, praised the Bangladeshi team’s pace assault but deemed the team’s performance to be below average.
Extremely poor execution. We couldn’t form any kind of alliance with the bat. Bangladesh was able to utilise that surface to their advantage by finding a way to bowl. It was impossible for us to exert pressure and turn it back on them. Quite dismal. I was not expecting it to be a typical wicket at McLean Park. Bangladesh was able to bowl at a lovely length and struck the stumps with some sideways movement that we were unable to react. Tom Latham praised them wholeheartedly following the game.
