Big Win For Donald Trump In Presidential Run-Up

Tuesday, Donald Trump triumph over competitor Nikki Haley in the New Hampshire Republican primary, advancing his drive to secure the nomination to run for a second term in the White House in November.

With his victory in Tuesday’s crucial New Hampshire primary, Donald Trump moved one step closer to securing the Republican presidential nomination and setting up an incredible rematch with Joe Biden in the White House.

It was unclear at the time of vote counting whether Trump had achieved the decisive victory to eliminate his lone opponent, Nikki Haley.

The former UN ambassador under Trump’s often turbulent presidency stated in a speech after the vote that the race was “far from over” and that Democrats “want” to run against her former employer.

“They know Trump is the only Republican in the country who Joe Biden can defeat,” Haley, who is 52 years old, said.

Haley had anticipated a significant upset given the high voter participation in the northeastern state. As soon as the initial results were revealed, however, US networks swiftly predicted her loss.

Even with two impeachments during his presidency and four ongoing criminal cases since he left office, Trump was already the clear front-runner in national Republican polling.

Haley frequently questioned the 77-year-old’s mental state and warned that another Trump administration would result in “chaos,” but according to polls, her efforts in New Hampshire were merely a speed bump.

Keith Nahigian, a six-time presidential campaign veteran and former member of Trump’s transition team, told AFP that he believes the contest is now between Biden and Trump.

If Haley decides to stay in the race, New Hampshire was noticeably more Haley-friendly than the states she will later face; it will be difficult to sustain her campaign into February if she doesn’t win or at least come in second.

Her home state of South Carolina will be her next must-win destination.

In the first Republican contest held in Iowa last week, Trump emerged victorious, with Haley trailing well behind.

Once a large field of fourteen contenders, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis withdrew on Sunday after finishing second in Iowa. This left the field down to a one-on-one contest.

Never before has a Republican won both of the primary races without going on to win the party’s candidature.

In New Hampshire, Trump conducted minimal in-person campaigning. But his campaign, which is a blend of right-wing cultural warfare and personal grievances, has given him what appears to be insurmountable polling leads.
