Ayodhya Temple Inauguration May Hurt Congress’s Lok Sabha Polls
Congress’s Lok Sabha Polls: On January 22, the Congress ultimately chose to forego the “Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh/Bharatiya Janata Party event” and instead focus on the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha. It has also brought up the fact that, despite the temple’s incomplete construction, the inauguration was rushed to coincide with the Lok Sabha elections.
These are the shared reasons why a large portion of the opposition, including the Left, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), and now the Congress, will miss the event.
The computation was considered for several days. Numerous influential figures believed that the BJP would profit from Ram Mandir in some way. Nobody can match them in terms of the Hindutva image. The Congress could not compete with that, even if they came to the occasion. It would also risk losing the votes of the minority.
WHY TMC FINDS IT WORKS
When Mamata Banerjee, the leader of the TMC, replied no, she most definitely believed this. Voters did not respond well to the “Jai Shri Ram” cry during the West Bengal elections. Thus, Banerjee is unconcerned that her absence from the Lok Sabha polls in 2024 will affect her results.
For the Congress, however, things might be different. UP leaders had recently requested clarification at a meeting with state and federal leaders, arguing that it would harm their prospects. In reality, a few state officials have already decided to resign.
Congress has already taken decisions like this one that would be detrimental to it. The Congress and other Opposition parties had foregone both the sengol ceremony and the bhoomipujan for the new Parliament building. It was labeled as anti-Hindu as a result of this.
News18 was informed by BJP member Aparajita Sarangi that “we always knew they were anti-Hindu.” They oppose Ram. It has now been demonstrated.”
In response, Congress said that it was unacceptable to blend politics and religion since religion is a personal matter. The party has also charged that the BJP has in the past exploited religion and the Ram Mandir to further its own political goals.
Such high-level decisions frequently put the party’s firefighters in a difficult situation. For example, Kamal Nath had previously declined an INDIA front joint rally during the Madhya Pradesh elections, which had been sparked by the DMK over the Sanatan Dharma dispute.
People living in the Hindi heartland zone are nonetheless concerned about the Congress’s decision. However, the senior leadership believes it’s critical to distance itself from any religious gathering that would revolve around the Prime Minister to present a secular image.
However, the BJP will utilize it to convey to the electorate that the Congress is an advocate of placation tactics.
During a public event overseas, Rahul Gandhi also criticized the government for the sengol ceremony, claiming that it was an unprecedented event similar to the one in the past where the Prime Minister knelt before the sadhus from the South.
But given that the BJP is keen to exploit the Ram Mandir controversy, would the Congress’s move result in — na maya mili na Ram?
