Redmi Note 13 vs Note 13 Pro+: Xiaomi announced a significant “premiumization” effort for its entry-level Redmi sub-brand during the company’s ostentatious Note range unveiling event. India has long associated Redmi phones with cheap, but the company has been producing increasingly pricey versions as it continues to move upscale.

You would think the Redmi Note 13 costs significantly more than it does after taking one look at its design. The bezels on Xiaomi devices have been trimmed to almost symmetry, making them slimmer than those on the iPhone 14 Pro. The Note 13 is incredibly thin and light in comparison to competitors, weighing only 173.5g and 7.6mm thick.

Though it feels and looks expensive for this price, the Note 13 isn’t constructed like a real flagship. Compared to more expensive phones that employ premium materials like metal and glass, the plastic frame and back are obvious indicators of lower quality. In a manner that plastic cannot, their opulent surfaces simply radiate excellence. The Redmi Note 13 Pro+, on the other hand, has an aluminum frame with a glass front and back, using the best materials available. For ergonomic comfort, the edges are even curved.

The Redmi Note 13 lacks the high-end experience of the more expensive Pro+ variant, but it still feels and looks good for the price.

Redmi Note 13 vs. Note 13 Pro+: Comparing the Display

In typical circumstances, comparing the phones’ displays side by side, you probably won’t notice any significant changes. The Note 13 Pro+, according to Xiaomi, has an exceptionally sharp 1.5K display resolution. But unless you’re very pixel-peeping, anything beyond 1080p can be quite challenging to see on a small smartphone screen. The 1080p display on the standard Note 13 is strikingly clear. Aside from performance constraints, both feature smooth 120Hz refresh rates, thus scrolling and animations should appear the same.

HDR content is where the true display improvements can be seen. With compatible apps, the Pro+’s HDR10+ certification enables brighter, more vibrant video. Furthermore, it reaches a brilliant 1,800 nit peak brightness, which is noticeable outside and almost twice as bright as the Note 13’s 1,000 nits.

Redmi Note 13 vs Redmi Note 13 Pro+: Performance

The raw performance difference between these two Notes is positively tremendous if there is one area. MediaTek’s Dimensity 6080, essentially a rebranded version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695, powers the Note 13. Its overall capabilities put it squarely in the middle of the pack; it’s good enough for everyday use, but you can only push it so far before it chokes. Furthermore, the Dimensity 6080 performs better than several other gadgets in the same price range, despite its asking price of Rs 19,999.

Comparable to the Snapdragon 870 flagship, which is three years old, the Pro+ is equipped with MediaTek’s upper-midrange Dimensity 7200 Ultra. With the weight of the MIUI, you will notice a change in the zippier day-to-day use. In demanding gaming, the 7200 Ultra performs noticeably worse than MediaTek’s own top-tier Dimensity 9300, but in other situations, it still offers flagship-caliber performance.

In summary, there is a significant performance disparity to consider. The Pro+ competes with upper-midrange flagships, while the Note 13 trades blows with entry-level smartphones.

Redmi Note 13 vs Redmi Note 13 Pro+: Camera

These two phones appear to have similar cameras when compared to paper. There is a 108MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro camera in the Redmi Note 13. With a 200MP primary camera, 8MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ ups the ante. Xiaomi has not disclosed all sensor specifications, but we do know that the Samsung 200MP HP3 sensor under the main lens of the Pro+ should result in higher-quality images. Beyond megapixels, Xiaomi claims the Pro+ takes images on par with leading models. To find out the difference, we’ll need to test both phones, so stay tuned. Unless Xiaomi employed distinct sensors, the ultrawide and macro specifications appear to be the same.

Redmi Note 13 vs Redmi Note 13 Pro+: Other features

Each Note has a 5,000mAh battery, but the Pro+ charges far more quickly—120W as opposed to 33W for the base model. Along with using a better vibration motor, the Pro+ promises tighter haptics comparable to flagship models.

With a high-end design and strong cameras, the Redmi Note 13 punches above its weight, but the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ feels noticeably more upscale. The Pro+ model’s svelte glass-and-metal construction and lightning-fast performance justify its significantly higher price tag.

Although both Notes are excellent devices, there is a good rationale for their significant price differences. To reach its affordable price point, the Redmi Note 13 makes several wise compromises. However, if you’re prepared to shell out more money, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ offers a nearly flagship-caliber experience at a price in the middle.
