Japan Earthquakes: ‘RRR’ Star Jr NTR Returns from Japan

On Monday, the main island of Japan’s west coast had a building collapse and a fire caused by the greatest of the 7.6 magnitude earthquakes.

“RRR” actor Jr. NTR announced on Tuesday morning that he had returned from Japan and hoped the country would recover quickly following a slew of strong earthquakes that struck the island nation.

In addition to destroying buildings, cars, and boats, the earthquakes that rocked western Japan on Tuesday caused at least eight fatalities. Authorities there issued a warning to residents to avoid their homes due to the possibility of further powerful earthquakes.

After spending the past week in Japan, Jr. NTR expressed on X that he was “deeply shocked” by the country’s earthquakes.

“Back home today from Japan and deeply shocked by the earthquakes hitting. Spent the entire last week there, and my heart goes out to everyone affected. Grateful for the resilience of the people and hope for a swift recovery. Stay strong, Japan,” the actor wrote X.

When “RRR”, a historical action drama starring Ram Charan, was released in Japan in 2022, it became the highest-grossing Indian movie. In Japan, the SS Rajamouli-directed film brought in more than 410 million yen, or roughly Rs 24.13 crore.

The biggest of the seven-and-a-half-magnitude earthquakes that struck on Monday also caused buildings on Honshu, the main island of Japan, to fall and catch fire. As a result, the nation canceled its highest-level tsunami advisory, which it had issued after a string of powerful earthquakes.

One day after a magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck the region on Monday afternoon, aftershocks were being felt in Ishikawa prefecture and the surrounding territories.

Eight confirmed deaths have occurred in Wajima City, according to officials. According to them, residences suffered damage so severe that it was not possible to evaluate it right away, and seven more people suffered critical injuries.
